Thiruvananthapuram: The public hearing of owners of the land which will be acquired for Vattiyoorkavu junction development (reach -II) will be held on Wednesday at Concordia School hall, Mannamoola. The hearing will be held for owners of shops and houses being acquired for the project from 11 am.
The second reach from Mannarakonam to Peroorkada covers places under Peroorkada revenue village. Those who have complaints related to the package can file a grievance with the land acquisition administrator. MLA, revenue officials, KRFB, TRIDA officials will take part in the hearing. Eligible shopkeepers who need space at the rehabilitation facility of TRIDA can also give options during the hearing.
The public hearing of the owners of the land which will be acquired for the first reach of Vattiyoorkavu junction development was held in March. As many as 250 landowners took part in the hearing process.
Kerala Road Fund Board and TRIDA are the special purpose vehicles for the implementation of the scheme. Sasthamangalam-Vattiyoorkavu-Peroorkada road will be developed in three reaches for a distance of 10.75 km at a width of 18.5 metre. About 570 shops are estimated to suffer loss as part of the project and rehabilitation has to be ensured for around 200 shop owners. Land measuring three acres will be acquired for this purpose. The KRFB has been allotted Rs 95 crore for land acquisition and Rs 219.75 crore for road construction. The TRIDA has been allotted Rs 27.04 crore and the total cost of the project will be Rs 341.79 crore.
As many as 27 land owners will be directly affected by this project and 72 trees will have to be felled.
