Facebook Gaming has announced a new shared gaming feature for Messenger. The feature allows users to play games with friends and family during an ongoing video call. The platform currently has 14 games and is available on Android, iOS and web.
Games that can be played on Messenger The platform is offering around 14 free-to-play titles. This includes Card Wars by Bombay Play and Exploding Kittens by Coatsink as well as some fan favorites like Mini Golf FRVR by FRVR and Words With Friends by Zynga. Each game supports a different number of players, but most games can be played with just two people.
What you’ll need to play games on Messenger The official blog post mentions that users don’t require anything other than the Messenger app’s latest version. But, do note that to be able to play games during a video call on Messenger, the other person is also supposed to be on Messenger and has to join the video call.
Steps to play games during video calls on Messenger
First, download and install the latest version of the Messenger app and also ask your friends and family to install it.
Now, open the Messenger app and start a video call with atleast one person.
Once the other person has joined, tap on the group mode button in the centre
Then, tap on the Play icon at the bottom
Browse through the list of available games
Tap on the game you want to play
That’s it. The game will then load in a new interface on the Messenger app itself by making the video call screen smaller and clubbed together at the top.
