NEW DELHI: The national capital continues to witness a surge in the number of daily Covid infections. Delhi recorded 521 new cases on Tuesday, as per the daily health bulletin provided by the state government. The positivity rate stood at 15.6% and the number of tests conducted was 3,331.
For the third consecutive day, one death owing to the virus was registered. The cumulative tally for fatality has now reached 26,533.
On Monday, the city recorded 293 new cases of infection and two deaths. The positivity rate had gone up to 18.53%. The number of samples collected was, however, only 1,581 that day. While Saturday's positivity rate stood at 14.37%, it shot up to 16.09% on Sunday.
The active cases in Delhi have now crossed 1,700-mark. Currently, the state government has got a total bed strength of 7,988 beds in dedicated Covid hospitals, out of which only 106 (1.33%) are occupied. The number of confirmed patients admitted in hospitals marginally increased to 96 on Tuesday. TNN
