Kartoos hun, jhukega nahi, ghusega: Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to UBT

NAGPUR: Replying to Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s jibe that he was an ineffective home minister, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis warned in his Nagpuri style that “he was kartoos (gun cartridge), jo jhukega nahi, ghusega (who will not bend, but hit from the front)”.
Speaking at the Savarkar Gaurav Yatra’s culmination in the city, Fadnavis said he had no respect for those who insulted the freedom fighter. He challenged Rahul Gandhi to stay one day in Andaman Cellular Jail where Savarkar was lodged.
Earlier, speaking to the media at the airport, Fadnavis said those who sat at home for over two-and-a-half years did not need to teach politics to others. “In their tenure, there was the scandal involving inspector Sachin Vaze, even police resorted to extortion that time. Their two ministers were in jail, still the then CM had failed to take their resignations. Just because we are reticent does not mean we can’t talk. If I open my mouth, they will be in big trouble.”
The deputy CM said he can reply in the same vein as he was from Nagpur, but it was not in his culture. “They do not want me to be a home minister. Whoever indulges in wrongdoings, will not be spared. If any untoward incident takes place in the state, it will be investigated impartially. Even when I was CM, I had kept the home minister’s charge for five years.”
Flaying Thackray for “sitting in the lap of Congress leaders, who insulted Savarkar”, Fadnavis said, “Kon hotas tu, kay zalas tu, waya gelas tu (What you were, what have you become. You have spoilt everything).”
“When Congress’ Mani Shankar Aiyar insulted Savarkar, your father Balasaheb had slapped him. You accused us of stealing your father, but are you following his thoughts and ideology? Your son (Aditya) joined the rally (Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra) when it was in Maharashtra, even as Savarkar was insulted there,” he said.
