T2 to Navi Mumbai airport Metro plan back on track

The two development agencies in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region have brought back the Airport Express Line into reckoning as work on the Navi Mumbai International Airport has gained traction. While City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) will execute the work in the Navi Mumbai area, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will take care of it in the Mumbai region.

Make some repeat traffic violations non-bailable: Transport chief to govt

The state transport commissioner’s office has sent a proposal to the Union government asking for serious traffic violations involving repeat offenders, to be made non-bailable. Among these violations are negligent driving resulting in a fatality, high speed and reckless or rash driving under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act. The proposal was made on the chief minister’s directions. State transport commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar spoke about the proposal at an event on Tuesday while releasing a report about a speed observation study conducted by non-profit United Way Mumbai in association with IIT Bombay.

A total of 447 patients recovered from coronavirus infection in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the overall count of recoveries to 79,94,060.

Of the four fatalities, two deaths were reported in Satara and one each in Pimpri-Chinchwad city and Ratnagiri district. The COVID-19 fatality rate in the state is 1.82 per cent.
