Death by cattle: Kin send notice to Vadodara Municipal Corporation
VADODARA: A month after a woman was killed by stray cows in the city, her family has issued a notice to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) and owner of the cows.
Jagdish Parmar and Niru Parmar have sought a compensation of Rs 25 lakh from the opponents for causing death of their mother Ganga Parmar.
On March 3, 60-year-old Parmar, a resident of Satyanagar Housing Society, was attacked by the cows when she was passing by the Panchratha Society. She was first knocked down by one bovine, and two others continued to gore her when she was lying on the ground. The woman was rushed to the SSG Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.
The duo has said that their mother used to help them financially and support them.
The notice says that the civic body is responsible to tackle the stray cattle menace and the cattle owner too let the cows stray on the road and put lives of people in danger.
Video of the incident had gone viral on social media last month causing outrage among the citizens.
“We have issued a notice to the VMC and the cattle owner. They will have to respond within 60 days following which we will file a suit in the court,” said advocate Alpesh Chauhan who is representing the complainants.
The city has witnessed several stray cattle attacks on people in the last few months. The civic body has been promising action and impounding stray cattle but the attacks have continued.
