KANPUR: Chief secretary Durga Shanker Mishra inaugurated the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) of Kanpur Metro on the lines of One Nation One Card at the IIT Metro station here on Tuesday. The NCMC card will make travel in Kanpur Metro even smarter while the cardholders will get a 10% discount on every Metro ride. Moreover, travellers can now travel across the country with ease.
On this occasion, managing director, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited, Sushil Kumar, divisional commissioner Rajasekhar, district magistrate Vishakh G. Iyer and senior officials of Uttar Pradesh Metro and State Bank of India (SBI) were present. With the launch of Metro’s NCMC card, travel by Kanpur Metro will now become even smarter for commuters.
Mishra first unveiled a short film based on the features of the NCMC card by pressing the remote button. Along with the senior officials of Uttar Pradesh Metro and SBI, he then inaugurated the NCMC card. The chief secretary then tapped the NCMC card at the AFC (Automatic Fare Control) gate of IIT Kanpur Metro station, starting his journey back to Motijheel Metro station.
Speaking on the occasion, Durga Shanker said in his address that Uttar Pradesh is currently working on the most number of Metro projects in the country. “Kanpur Metro is the first Metro service to launch an NCMC card in Uttar Pradesh.
The main benefit of this card is that it is an inter-operable transport card — this card can also be used for other metro, bus, parking, and retail services of the country which comply with NCMC. With the NCMC, travellers can travel across the country with ease. This is also paving the way for seamless movement along with saving time and energy during the journey.”
Expressing happiness over the launch of the NCMC Card, Sushil Kumar said, “With the NCMC card, Metro travel will now be easier and more affordable for people of Kanpur. Kanpur Metro is already providing Metro tickets through full digital payment mode with debit cards, credit cards and UPI from its ticket counters and ticket vending machines. The launch of the NCMC card is a big step forward. With this, commuters will no longer have to stand in line for tickets and will also get the benefit of a 10 % discount every time they travel by metro. After successfully overcoming the challenges in the field of civil construction, Kanpur Metro has now set an example in the field of operations by extensively using initiatives like NCMC. We hope that the people of Kanpur, like every time, will welcome and benefit from our efforts.”
