BJP attacks Nitish over Red Fort poster at iftar
PATNA: A verbal duel erupted on Tuesday after Bihar CM Nitish Kumar attended an iftar party hosted by party MLA Khalid Anwar and a group photograph was taken against the backdrop of a large poster of the Red Fort. BJP said the photo was a sign of Nitish's hidden desire to become PM even though he has said he does not nurse any such ambition.
State BJP politicians said Nitish's dream of becoming PM was unrealisable, while JD(U), RJD and Congress dismissed the saffron barb as a mark of BJP's desperation since Nitish announced his exercise for opposition unity against BJP.
BJP functionary Sushil Kumar Modi said: "No one can become PM by getting himself photographed in front of a poster of Red Fort. If he so wills, he (Nitish) can also get himself photographed before the White House." State BJP president Samrat Chaudhary said the "CM (Nitish) is happy that he will become PM merely by looking at Red Fort".
However, RJD spokesman Mrityunjay Tiwary said Nitish was definitely PM material as he has "experience in running a Union ministry, has been the state's CM and also has the vision to run the country." Anwar said it was "There is nothing wrong in being photographed before a poster of Red Fort".
