Alagavadi villagers protest demolition of Rayanna Circle compound wall
Belagavi: Hundreds of villagers of Alagawadi village in Raibag taluk staged a flash protest and expressed their anger by burning tyres on Tuesday morning, condemning the demolition of the compound wall of Sangolli Rayanna Circle in the village by the miscreants on late Monday night.
In protest against vandalism, Alagavadi villagers burnt tyres in the village circle on Tuesday and demanded for immediate arrest of the accused. Following the protest, the situation was tense for two hours. The protest led by Karnataka Pradesha Kurubara Sangha activists witnessed roads being blocked and sloganeering. Tahsildar Riyazuddin Bagavan and Raibag police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protesting villagers.
CPI Ravichandra, PSIs Chandabi Gangavati, PV Pujar, managed to convince the agitators to withdraw the protest, assuring them of detaining the accused within a day.
Karnataka Pradesha Kurubara Sangha leader Ramanna Shiragur told TOI that Rayanna circle has been in village from 25 years but there have been no untoward incidents till now. “Some miscreants are creating problem during election period. We have searched the CCTV footage from shops nearby but have not been able to get any clue. We have taken back the protest as police have assured us of detaining the accused,” he added.
Karnataka Pradesha Kurubara Sangha leaders Kumarm Banashankari, Maruti padache were present.
