NOIDA: Sector 99, which has been facing frequent outages for lack of adequate power infrastructure, is set to get a revamp. With the PVVNL sanctioning Rs 1.2 crore budget, the sector will soon get three new transformers of 400kVA capacity each.
“Work on installing the three new transformers, along with some cables, panels and feeder boxes is expected to start by next week. It will take a little over a month to complete the work,” PVVNL executive engineer and area in-charge Rachit Khanna said.
Rishipal Singh Awana, RWA president, said the demands were finally being met after a decade-long fight. “We have a single-panel box for electrical connection in the sector which has 190 plots ranging from 112sqm to 450sqm. Residents have been facing problems in obtaining electric connections in absence of adequate infrastructure,’ he said.
Awana, who has been pursuing the matter with both the Noida Authority’s power department as well as the discom attributed the delay to the two authorities passing the buck over the issue.
