Sector officers to keep eye on poll violations
Mysuru: Deputy commissioner K V Rajendra on Tuesday told the sector officers overseeing the preparations for the ensuing elections to keep a close watch on model code of conduct violations. He also highlighted their role in the election duty. He was speaking at the meeting of sector officers, flying squad and statistical surveillance officers of Nanjangud and Varuna assembly segments held at the office of Returning Officer in Nanjangud here.
He asked the sector officers to keep in touch with all their booth level officers regularly, besides sort out the issues of inclusion and deletion of names in the voters list as the Election Commission set the deadline till April 11 to complete this process. Officers were also told to focus on the missing names in voter list as well as deletion of names of voters who have died.
As Election Commission has made a provision for people above 80 years old to vote from their place, sector officers must identify such voters before the polling as well as concentrate more on vulnerable and critical polling booths identified by the district election branch for smooth conduct of polling in such booths.
Sector officers were also directed to ensure that all basic facilities are provided in all polling stations like drinking water, toilet, power, tables and furnitures, construction of ramp and other facilities. The DC also instructed them to replace all the damaged EVM,VVPAT machines in their jurisdiction, besides ensuring vehicles for all flying squads, sector officers.
