BENGALURU: Namma Metro's Yellow Line linking RV Road in south Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the southeast part of the city is expected to be ready in three months, sources said.
The Yellow Line will take the rapid mass transit system beyond the existing network comprising North-South (Nagasandra-Silk Institute) and East-West (Byappanahalli-Kengeri) corridors. It will branch off RV Road station on the Green Line and intersect with the upcoming Pink Line (Gottigere-Nagawara) at Jayadeva hospital, before proceeding till Bommasandra.
When asked about the line getting ready by July 2023, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited declined to affirm or deny the same citing the moral code of conduct in place. Sources, however, said most of the rail alignment work along the Yellow Line has been completed but the stations need to be ready for use. If all goes well, the line will be opened by late July or early August, they added.
The route is elevated and total length is around 19km. The line will have 16 stations, passing through the busy areas of BTM Layout, Bommanahalli, Central Silk Board and Electronics City. The line will also comprise the city's first double-decker flyover, where a two-tier bridge will run for 3.3km from Ragigudda to Silk Board junction.
