Ujjwala scheme delayed as govt updating list of over 70L beneficiaries
Jaipur: The food and civil supplies department officials are hopeful of starting the Ujjwala Yojana soon for over 70 lakh beneficiaries in the state.
Although chief minister Ashok Gehlot had announced to implement the scheme during the Budget speech on February 10, it could not be implemented even from April 1.
Officials of the department stated that the decision is stuck at the chief minister’s office as the list of beneficiaries were getting updated.
“The list of the beneficiaries under this scheme was getting updated. Since the chief minister was busy with assembly session and then with the doctors’ protest, the list has not got the final clearance yet,” said a senior official from the food and civil supplies department.
However, officials of the department ascertained that updated draft list of each and every district had already been prepared and once the clearance comes, the enrolment process of beneficiaries would be initiated.
“As far as Jaipur district is concerned, the list is ready. We are hopeful that soon the enrolment process would start. Following enrolments, beneficiaries would start receiving the cylinders at a subsidised rate,” said Mahendra Meena, district supply officer of Jaipur I.
Over 70 lakh beneficiaries across the state are expected to get LPG cylinders at a subsidised price of Rs 500 under this scheme.
