13 held for loot at Namami Gange project godown
Kanpur: Police arrested 13 persons accused of committing a loot at Namami Gange project godown in Bharthana area of Etawah district March 4. One of the arrested accused, who was shot at and suffered injuries in the encounter, has been admitted to the district hospital.
Police said the accused had on March 4 night, looted the godown of Namami Gange project after taking two guards hostage in Bharthana area. Police were looking for them after registering an FIR in the matter.
“At 3 am on Sunday, acting on a specific tip-off that the accused were carrying goods by truck near Baharpura canal, Bharthana SO, Friends Colony Police and SOG laid a trap.
On being accosted, the accused opened fire at the police team. When police shot back, one of accused, Imran Dinu, resident of Nagla Jahanu, district Gautam Buddha Nagar, was shot in the leg. He was later nabbed and admitted to the district hospital,” said the police and added, “Zainuddin, Javed, Abu Bakar, Insar Ali, Atiq, Fahimuddin, Mubarak, Shafiq, Salimuddin and Ishtiaq, all residents of Nagla Jahanu, police station Jewar, district Gautam Budh Nagar and Ayub Khan and Munfed, of Nuh district, Mewat Haryana have been arrested.
Two trucks, a Bolero, goods worth Rs 35 lakh stolen from the godown of Namami Gange project have been recovered from the miscreants.
Two pistols, live cartridges have also been recovered from the possession of the miscreants. Circle officer Bharthana Vivek Javla, said, “The interrogation of the arrested accused is going on. The injured accused is undergoing treatment at the hospital.”
