Police must work efficiently during polls: Rtd IPS officer
Mysuru/Mandya: Police should work efficiently to ensure free and fair elections, said retired IPS officer K T Balakrishna on Sunday.
He was speaking after receiving the guard of honour during the Police Flag Day jointly organised by Mysuru City Police, Mounted Police, Karnataka Police Academy, Police Training School, State Intelligence Department, Lokayukta, CESC, Internal Security Department and KSRP at City Armed Reserve Grounds, here on Sunday.
Referring to the model code of conduct, he said as the poll calendar is out, the poll code has come into force, which demands additional work from the police. “The cops should work efficiently and ensure the polls are incident free,” he said.
He said earlier, the Police Flag Day was celebrated as a festival with police personnel actively involved in collecting donations from the general public as well as contributing themselves. However, in recent days, it has lost its charm, he said.
The march past was held under the leadership of parade commandant KN Suresh and assistant commandant SD Sasanoor.
In Mandya, the Police Flag Day was held at Mandya district parade grounds. Retired police officer HS Ramesh, who was the chief guest, released the Police Flag Day sticker on the occasion besides inspecting the march past in an open jeep.
