‘Expedite road work on Karmal ghat highway’

Canacona: Instructions have been issued to public works and forest departments to expedite the early commencement of the accident-prone road widening work of the NH66 stretch between Gulem and Karmal ghat.
A meeting was convened by forest minister Vishwajit Rane and local MLA Ramesh Tawadkar on Monday to discuss the issue. The Union ministry of roads, transport, and highways had recently conveyed its technical, administrative and financial approvals for Rs 4.9 crore towards the widening project.
While Rane directed the forest department to clear all hurdles on the ground for commencing the work at the earliest, Tawadkar, who is also the speaker of the legislative assembly, directed officers to complete the ground work before the onset of monsoon. tnn
