Rajkot: Five people who had allegedly kidnapped and looted an employee of a cooperative bank on March 29 were arrested by the Rajkot (rural) local crime branch on Sunday.
Vishal Savaliya (35), who works as a peon in Rajkot District Cooperative Bank's branch near Jetpur was kidnapped in a car near Panch Pipla village by four people on March 29. They looted his gold chain and mobile phone and released him after a few hours.
The LCB arrested Kishan Dudhatra, a resident of Junagadh and his friends Meet Zalawadia, Deepak Bhadiyadra, Nikit Malaviya and Dhruv Rabadia, all residents of Surat city.
Dudhatra was Savaliya's friend and neighbour and he was in dire need of money. "Dudhatra assumed that since Savaliya worked in a bank, he might be bringing home cash after daily accounts. Meanwhile, his friends from Surat had come to Junagadh and Dudhatra told him about Savaliya and they decided to loot him," said LCB inspector VV Odedara.
LCB got specific information that the accused would be travelling to Surat from Junagadh in a car and kept a watch near Amarnagar village from where the four were arrested.
Savaliya was working with the bank for the last 10 years. He used to commute from Junagadh to Panch Pipaliya on his two-wheeler every day.
