AIISH to hold awareness programme on autism
Mysuru: The city-based All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) will conduct a month-long awareness programme on austim as a part of World Autism Day celebrations. The institute will be conducting several programmes to create awareness on Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
It is estimated that 1 in 160 children in India could have ASD, which is a neuro-development condition. Children which such disorders find difficulties in social communication skills. Every year, April 2 is observed as World Autism Day and this year the United Nations has come out with the theme “Light it up Blue”.
AIISH will be conducting awareness programmes through various mediums such as radio, live phone-in programmes, orientation and activities for preschool teachers. The institute will also create awareness among public through various social media initiatives, a release said.
