BENGALURU: Family members of an army officer serving in Kashmir were allegedly assaulted by their neighbouring techies for asking them to reduce volume of music they were playing in the wee hours of Sunday at Vignan Nagar.
The accused, Ram Samanth Rai, Basudev Samanth Rai and Abhishek Singh, aged between 26 and 30, are from Odisha. They attacked Colonel David Nehemiah's brother Lloyd Nehemiah, 54, his sister and two other neighbours. After the incident, the colonel's ailing mother's health deteriorated and was shifted to ICU. A complaint has been filed at HAL police station.
Lloyd said his house is located right opposite to the rented house of the techies. "At least thrice I had requested them to play music at a lower volume as my aged mother is critical," he rued.
At 4.30am, they were playing music after returning home drunk. "My mother and I were unable to sleep due to the noise. Running out of patience, I came out and requested them to lower the volume. I even messaged the owner of the house in which they are tenants. The men came out and started hurling abuses and dared me to come out of the house," Lloyd said.
Angered over their rude behaviour, Lloyd stood on the road. "Ram Samanth started pushing me. Then they started to beat me. I was pushed to the ground. When my sister came out and asked them to leave, the other accused slapped her. A few neighbours came out to help us but they also received blows," he alleged.
Alerted about the fight, a Hoysala team arrived. The cops drove Lloyd and his sister to the police station and took a complaint from them. Police said an FIR is being filed and the accused will soon be arrested.
