Car blast in Srinagar, cops say mechanical failure

SRINAGAR: An elderly couple had a narrow escape Sunday afternoon when the underside of their car’s hatch exploded with a bang on Boulevard Road in Srinagar, triggering panic among pedestrians and motorists in the area.
Police said the explosion in the Honda City car was probably caused by a mechanical failure. The couple is safe. They are residents of the Kral Sangri area in Nishat, a township on the outskirts of Srinagar.
