Rahul Gandhi, Congress trying to pressurize judiciary: BJP

Disqualified Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will be at the Surat district sessions court Monday to appeal his March 23 conviction. The defamation case was filed against Gandhi by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi for saying "How come all thieves have the common surname Modi?" Rahul's disqualification is the latest in a series of flashpoints between the Congress and the ruling BJP, with a united Opposition calling it a ploy to divert public attention from the Adani issue. BJP’s Sambit Patra while addressing a press conference said, “Rahul Gandhi, his family members, CMs Ashok Gehlot & Bhupesh Baghel are going to Surat & will be creating mayhem in the name of appealing (against the 2-year sentence) verdict...are they trying to pressurize the judiciary?”
