Two Ludhiana cops held for accepting Rs 5,000 bribe
LUDHIANA: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a head constable (HC) — both posted at Dehlon police station of Ludhiana police commissionerate in Punjab — for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
A spokesperson of the VB said Surjit Singh (SI) and Jagpreet Singh were arrested on the complaint of Atma Singh, a resident of Saiyan Kalan in Ludhiana district.
The complainant had approached the VB unit Ludhiana range and alleged that the officials demanded Rs 20,000 to release the motorcycle of his son who has been arrested in NDPS case but the deal was struck at Rs 10,000.
The complainant further said that the head constable took Rs 5,000 on behalf of the ASI as the first instalment.
A VB team from Ludhiana range laid a trap and the accused were arrested on the spot.
