PUNE: Two men robbed a 59-year-old retired teacher of her gold chain worth Rs 3.85 lakh near Swami Samarth temple in Bibvewadi area of Maharashtra’s Pune district at 1.10pm on Sunday.
“The teacher was going to her student’s house for lunch when one of the men approached and advised her in Marathi to remove her chain and keep them in a bag as there was a crowd and some trouble ahead,” said senior inspector Sangeeta Jadhav from Bibvewadi police on Monday.
Jadhav said, “While she was removing her chain, the man swiftly snatched the same and ran towards his associate who was waiting nearby on a bike and the two sped away from the spot.”
The woman did not raise an alarm.
“CCTV cameras show that the two men had covered their faces with masks. The duo riding on a black bike without number plate fled in the direction of Pune-Satara Road,” she added.
