JAIPUR: A video of a police constable in uniform being thrashed by people in the city went viral on social media on Sunday.
Kanota police station house officer (SHO) Mukesh Khardiya said the incident occurred on March 28. The constable in the video is Shailandera Singh, posted at the Gandhi Nagar police station in the city.
“We had rescued the constable and taken him to the hospital. No one has filed any complaint in the case yet,” he said.
Additional DCP (East) Avnish Kumar Sharma said that the constable was sent to the line and ACP (Bassi) has been deputed to probe the entire incident.
While people in the video has accused the constable of illegally detaining a person, cops said they could not corroborate anything yet.
“The constable was away from the station duty for the past few days. He claimed that he had gone to round up a conman but that has not been confirmed yet,” said a senior official.
In the video, the constable is bleeding from his head as a mob surrounded him. People could be heard accusing the constable of illegally picking up someone.
“While there is no case was filed in the incident. We are enquiring what transpired and what the constable was doing in a uniform in Kanota,” the official said, adding that the constable’s records are being checked too.
