SVEEP nodal officer inspects lower voter turnout polling booths
Mysuru: Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) state nodal officer P S Vastrad on Saturday inspected lower voter turnout polling booths in view of the upcoming 2023 assembly elections.
He inspected the polling booths in the areas of HUDCO Layout in Bannimantap, Government Higher Primary School Jyothinagar and BASE College in the city.
The officer also inspected the Soligara Colony in Jayapura gram panchayat, and also drinking water supply, toilet and other basic facilities in the area. He appealed to the residents of Soligara Colony to exercise their franchise without any fear and call the helpline 1950 in case they want to file complaints.
He also held meetings with the local officials to review preparations for the assembly elections, asked the officials to find out the reasons and come up with solutions to increase turnout through voter awareness.
Zilla panchayat chief executive officer K M Gayathri, deputy secretary Dr M Krishnaraju, assistant director Vishwanath, taluk panchayat executive officer Dr H D Girish, assistant director K M Raghuanth and others were present. tnn
