BATHINDA: Slain singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh on Sunday announced he would be campaigning for the May 10 Lok Sabha bypoll from Jalandhar seat to tell people about worsening law and order in Punjab.
Addressing the fans of his son at his home in Moosa village of Mansa, Balkaur said when he and his wife had protested outside Punjab legislative assembly during the
budget session on March 7, they were promised a meeting with the CM, but that assurance had not been fulfilled even after a month. “Two interviews of (gangster) Lawrence Bishnoi have been aired on a news channel, but the state has not cleared how a gangster in its custody could give interview from jail. The government claims it is still investigating about the place of interviews, while my sources from Delhi said the first interview seemed to have been done in Kharar and second in Bathinda. Going by this, I will go to Jalandhar to raise my voice for justice,” he said.
He said when the CM had visited him after the killing of his son, he had promised a judicial commission to look into all aspects of the killing, but that too had not been done.
He also accused the state government of trying to sabotage the death anniversary of his son by starting an operation to nab fugitive radical Amritpal Singh, which should have done on the day he had stormed Ajnala police station. Balkaur added he was still getting threats in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi. “I don’t fear death, but the government must look into all this ,” he said.
