Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Monday visited the National Institute of Water Sports campus at Caranzalem, Panaji, and reviewed the progress of the ongoing project.
After taking stock of the work, Sawant said that the project being built by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation will be ready by the end of May. The works, which include the institute building and infrastructure were scheduled to be completed in February. The work was awarded in 2017.
Sawant said that the institute will have BBA, MBA and PhD courses in tourism and other operations.-
Being an apex body for licensing leisure watersports in the country, the institute traina watersports operators through various skill developing courses, short-term certificate courses, and certifies trainees. Every year, more than 2,500 students enroll themselves in these courses.
After the inspection, the chief minister also inspected the protection and restoration work being done on the Mandovi coastline.
