MANGALURU: BJP, Congress and other parties have been planning strategies to reach voters in Dakshina Kannada through all possible means and are geared up to make their social media cells more active.
While the Congress has been activating its social media wings in each booth, BJP has planned a conclave of its social media warriors at the ground level.

BJP district social media cell coordinator Ajith Kumar Ullal told TOI that the party has already begun the groundwork at the booth level and a conclave for ground level social media warriors will be held on April 8.
“We have already completed one round of campaign in the district. A refresher conclave has been planned to avoid laxity among party workers since the assembly election is fast approaching. The conclave will throw light on how to share content and counter criticisms on social media responsibly with facts and figures. Basically, we do not attack other political parties or leaders but focus on sharing content that highlight only the achievements of the BJP governments. Further, all our criticisms will be healthy, and our narrative will always be the development,” he said. “In addition to a district level social media cell, the BJP MLAs from the district have their own teams at the constituency levels,” he added.
Poornesh Bhandari, head of Congress Social Media Cell in Dakshina Kannada, said that their main focus will be on two important aspects such as content creation and distribution.
“We will ensure that the content we receive from our national and state units reach the masses. We have been creating social media groups in each booth and 70% of the process is completed. Most importantly, we are setting up a legal team that will have experts in laws pertaining to the Model Code of Conduct and other aspects. We have been given directions that permission should be obtained to share political campaign content on social media. We will abide by the rules and regulations of the Election Commission,” he said. The legal team will study all aspects of the law and help party workers if they find any legal hurdles during the poll campaign, he added.
