PATNA: Criminals looted jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh from a jeweller near Dhaniya Baha village under the Singhia police station area in Samastipur district on Saturday night. They also attacked the jeweller, Raja Sahu, with the butt of the pistol and escaped after snatching the bag containing Rs 25 lakh.
The incident took place when Sahu, who owns a jewellery shop at Pipra Ghat Chowk, was returning home at Hardia village on his motorcycle along with one of his workers. Three bike-borne criminals overtook them at a deserted place. When they tried to raise an alarm, the robbers attacked them with the butt of the pistol.
Sahu said apart from gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh, around Rs 25,000 in cash was also there in the bag. SHO of Singhia police station Krishna Kant Mandal said raids were being conducted to arrest those involved in the loot.
