Private university hostel inmates suffer food poisoning in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: About 68 girl students living in the hostel of a private university on Ayodhya Road complained of vomiting and diarrhoea on Friday night after consuming food at the hostel.
Health department officials said the girls fell ill after eating food at a college party which might have been stale causing food poisoning. Altogether 42 girl students were taken to RMLIMS while 36 were taken to a private hospital on Ayodhya Road and were discharged after treatment.
Communicable diseases in-charge Dr Nishant Nirvana said: “A committee will probe the matter we have sent water samples for testing as there was no food left for testing.”
