Mettupalayam GH to get radiologist and neurologist
Coimbatore: Health minister Ma Subramanian on Saturday said steps would be taken to sanction posts of a radiologist and neurologist to Mettupalayam Government Hospital.
Inspecting the hospital in the presence of district collector Kranti Kumar Pati, he said the recently installed CT scan at the hospital had been very useful for patients. “At least 283 patients have benefitted in two months. Doctors have sought the appointment of a radiologist and neurologist. Steps will be taken to fulfil their demands.”
With Covid-19 cases increasing across India, he said, wearing face masks on hospital premises had been made mandatory from Saturday. “The situation will not worsen to the point of enforcing another lockdown. Kerala reported 765 Covid cases in 24 hours and some other states are reporting anywhere between 300 to 500 infections a day. However, only 139 cases were reported in Tamil Nadu on Friday.”
The minister said adequate beds were available at the hospitals in Coimbatore to treat Covid patients. “A 1,000-bed facility that was created at ESI Hospital during the peak of the pandemic is still available.”
