Margao: Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuyekar said that the work of laying a new water supply pipeline from Rawanfond junction to Ravola in Navelim will be undertaken shortly. Once completed the project will end the water woes of residents of the area, he said.
A notice inviting tenders for the work estimated to cost Rs 5.3 crore has been issued, he said.
The Navelim MLA said that developmental works worth over Rs 18 crore have been initiated in his constituency over the last one year. While works worth Rs 8 crore have already been completed, the tendering process of the remaining works has been completed and these will be executed soon, he said.
Construction of culverts, nullahs, retaining walls, repairs of Telaulim-Varca bridge and approach roads, road repairs, roads asphalting, laying of new water pipelines are among the 29 development works Tuyekar said have been kicked off in Navelim.
Among the works completed are the construction of a nullah at Rawanfond, drainage repairs at Mandopa, road-widening and drainage repairs at Rumdamol in Davorlim, and repairs of internal roads and gutters at Zorivaddo.
Other works that are currently under way are the construction of a culvert at Rawanfond, road repair work at Bellem, repairs of street lights on Davorlim-Chandor road. Work of hotmixing of roads in various villages is also currently in progress, Tuyekar said.
Construction of nullahs at Mandopa, Rawanfond and Davorlim will be taken up shortly, Tuyekar said, adding that desilting of nullahs at various places is also in the works.
He also said that work of construction and repairs of roads and gutters, construction of retaining walls, and various other items will be taken up at various places across Navelim soon.
