The Toronto Blue Jays could not get their bats going against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Unlike their 10-9 victory on Opening Day on Thursday, they could only muster up one run today.

They lost to the Cardinals 4-1 on Saturday. Even with Jack Flaherty struggling to find his command and walking seven batters, the Blue Jays didn't get a timely hit.

Seven starters for Toronto went hitless in Saturday's loss. The only player with multiple hits in the ball game was veteran Kevin Kiermaier. Slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 0-2 with three walks, while George Springer went 0-5 with two strikeouts.

Starting pitcher Kevin Gausman didn't have a bad outing for the Blue Jays today. He went six innings, striking out seven and giving up three runs. It's hard to win as a pitcher when your team only scores one run in a game.

"Couldn't get the big hit. Gausman deserved much better. Win the series tmrw" one fan tweeted.

"It's gonna be one of those seasons, eh?" another fan tweeted.
@BlueJays It’s gonna be one of those seasons, eh?
@BlueJays This team treats Kevin Gausman horribly
@BlueJays Lots of walks but couldn't cash them in - that's baseball. Score 10 runs the first game - struggle to score the next.Chapman's error didn't help.

Fans hope the Toronto Blue Jays come out and hit the ball tomorrow. Their lineup is full of incredible hitters. Don't expect too much of this lack of offense from them this season.

@BlueJays Tough one. Can’t pass up those “free” opportunities to score runs early.
@BlueJays Just playing fundamental baseball and Jays probably would have won this game ... advancing baserunners seem to have been forgotten in today's game.
@BlueJays I'm not mad, just disappointed 😟😪
@BlueJays After 10 runs on 19 hits on Thursday........ back to earth on Saturday, only their 2nd game, but they left way too many runners on base and the big hit never came.
@BlueJays I don't like Schneider. I don't feel he is capable in making good decisions. Early indications? The same Blue Jays of last year! 😧

While we are just two games into the season, it's hard for fans not to overreact. They have big expectations for this team this season. They believe they have the talent to make a run this year.

The Toronto Blue Jays have the talent to be great this season

The Toronto Blue Jays were one of the busier teams this offseason. They made a ton of moves to upgrade their roster and put them in a position to win a lot of baseball games.

One of these moves included signing the only guy to have multiple hits on Saturday, Kevin Kiermaier. While he's not known for his bat much, he's a great center fielder who can cover a ton of ground.

The team also added Daulton Varsho in the offseason. Toronto engaged in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, sending Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to Arizona for Varsho. Varsho is a great player who can not only help in the outfield but has experience in the catching position as well.

The Blue Jays are going to be a team that could surprise many around the league this season.
