Snowfall in Uttarakhand, Bad weather with intermittent rains slows Char Dham yatra preparations

As predicted by the Meteorological Department, border areas of Joshimath and Bhu Baikunth Dham Shri Badrinath in Joshimath have witnessed intermittent rains that have brought down the temperature. While in the upper Himalayan region - Badrinath Dham including Chinap Valley, Sleeping Lady Peak, Nar Narayan mountains are covered with a white sheet of snow, it has been snowing in Badri Puri since Saturday. The newly constructed bypass highway in Badrinath Dham is also in the grip of snowfall, a 72-hour alert has been issued by the Met Department. Inclement weather coupled with fresh intermittent snowfall over the past few days has also hampered the ongoing preparations for the Char Dham yatra. With less than a month to go for the opening of portals, bad weather conditions has become a major cause of concern among authorities.
