Congressman’s coop society raided in Belagavi

BELAGAVI: I-T sleuths raided the head office of the Kittur Rani Channamma Urban Souharda Cooperative Society at Bailhongal on Friday evening. The cooperative society is led by Congress leader VS Sadhunavar -- a businessman and realty owner who is said to be an aspirant for a Congress ticket from Kittur constituency.
During the search operations that lasted three hours, I-T officials verified 262 lockers at the cooperative society. Iranna Nanannavar, the society manager, and other staff members were also questioned.
As news about the raid spread, a crowd gathered at the spot, even as the manager told customers not to worry about what he termed as a “survey” of the society’s accounts and premises. He also appealed to the public not to spread rumours.
