NAGPUR: Family members of deceased Santoshi Binkar, who was a nurse at the paediatric ward of GMCH, lambasted Dhantoli police on Saturday saying the accused were let off without action.
The cops, who are now claiming to try nabbing the accused behind the death of Santoshi, have invoked charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the case but allegedly let off the kin of the perpetrators without properly noting down their names and addresses on Friday.
Santoshi, who underwent surgery, was pushed down from the stairs of a mall at Munje Chowk by the perpetrators when she had tried to intervene in a fight between two families over
space while watching the Ram Navami shobayatra. Suffering two head injuries afted the fall from around 15 feet and having landed on her head, Santoshi was declared dead at the hospital.
Santoshi’s family members claimed that they had identified three women kin of the perpetrators and handed them over to the police. “Why did the police leave them without confirming their names and addresses,” asked an aggrieved kin.
