All buses to enter Service bus stand

Mangaluru: All city and service buses, including KSRTC and contract carriage buses, will henceforth stop only at the Service bus stand, and will not go via Hamilton Circle and Rao and Rao Circle. The new system has been implemented since Saturday.
Speaking on the sidelines of this development, DCP (crime and traffic) BP Dinesh Kumar said that the decision was taken following a meeting between city police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain and stakeholders on Friday. As many as 940 buses, including KSRTC buses, city buses, and service and contract carriage buses, will stop only at the bus station, and not on the roadside. The bus station has one entry and two exit points.
The road leading to the bus stand has been reserved only for buses, and the parallel road via Hamilton Circle will be used by other vehicles. This is an attempt to reduce the traffic congestion on that route, he said.
A meeting was held with the representatives of the Canara Bus Operators Association, City Bus Operators Association KSRTC, contact carriage owners, and officials from the Mangaluru Smart City Limited, Mangaluru City Corporation and the RTO in this regard. Police officials inspected the place before introducing the changes.
