LUDHIANA: With clouds covering the city sky for most part of the day, the temperature on Saturday remained well below normal in Ludhiana. Meanwhile, the meteorological department predicts rainfall over the next few days in the district.
After light drizzle and cloudy weather till Friday evening, it rained in the industrial town on Friday night and the sky remained cloudy for major part of the day on Saturday.
As per the met department, 3.2 millimetres of rainfall was recorded in Ludhiana between 8.30am on Friday and 8.30am on Saturday, and trace amount between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the rainfall further decreased the maximum (day) temperature, taking it 6.6 degrees less than a day before to 26.9 degrees Celsius (°C) on Saturday. This was also 4.6 degrees less than the normal temperature.
Similarly, the minimum (night) temperature in Ludhiana on Saturday was recorded at 16.2°C, which is 1.5 degrees more than normal but a degree less than that of a day before.
Besides, the department said that weather forecast for Sunday and Tuesday is “partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of
rain or thunder showers”, whereas for Monday it is “generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thunder showers”.
They added that both the day and night temperatures are expected to rise over the next three days.
While day temperature is expected to rise to 28°C by Monday and remain the same till Wednesday, the night temperature might rise to 17°C by Tuesday.
The residents continued to feel slightly chilly, especially during the evening.
“Before the recent rainfall, temperatures were going up so we thought that harsh summer is round the corner, but rainfall and cloudy weather indicates that there is still some time for hot weather conditions to arrive in city. We had packed sweatshirts and other warm clothes, but now we might have to unpack them as we are feeling cold,” said city resident Suneel Kumar.
