Lyft Inc.’s leadership change this week followed months of discontent among some employees over the company’s shrinking market share and stock price.

As the ride-share company has struggled with competition from Uber Technologies Inc., some people within the company had been questioning the leadership of its co-founders—Chief Executive Logan Green and President John Zimmer—for months. Some investors and stock analysts also had urged change.
