Rose Zhang opened up about replacing her father as the caddie at the Augusta National Women's Amateur.
She was thinking of swiping her father with the club caddie. During the first round of the Women's Amateur Championship, Zhang said:
“Hopefully, it all works well. I believe that those caddies are the best of the best and know every single part of Augusta National. So those details and advice will greatly help.”
However, the amateur golfer changed her mind during the practice round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship on Friday. She said:
"Ultimately, I feel like what we have is going pretty well thus far, and I feel very comfortable with him (Her father) on the bag. He’s very predictable. We know our games in and out. I think especially when you’re at the biggest stage at Augusta, it’s pretty necessary to have that comfort to be able to be yourself and do what you need to do.”
Rose Zhang took the lead after the second round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship with a score deficit of 13. The Stanford sophomore played a first round of 66 and a second of 65 to finish at 131. She will start the third round on Saturday, five strokes ahead of Andrea Lignell.
Augusta National Women's Amateur final on April 1 with Latanna Stone and Hinano Muguruma taking their first shots of the day on the tenth hole at 7:40 am ET. Zhang will take on the tenth hole at 8:50 am ET alongside Andrea Lignell.
