PUNE: Two bike-borne men snatched a gold chain worth Rs1.05 lakh from a woman at Ketan Chowk in Warje Malwadi at 4.15pm on Thursday.
The 55-year-old woman was crossing the road when the pillion rider snatched her chain. The duo then drove away. The CCTV footage revealed that the bike had no registration number plate.
The police confirmed that the duo involved in the latest case were different from the two bike-borne men snatching six gold chains, totally worth Rs2.6 lakh, from four women in back-to-back strikes between 6.45pm and 8pm on Monday at Parvati, Pune-Satara road, Bibvewadi and Katraj-Kondhwa bypass.
"We are analysing the CCTV footage to pick the trail of the duo before and after the crime. We shall nab them soon," said senior inspector Dagdu Hake from the Warje Malwadi police on Friday.
Referring to Monday's incident, additional commissioner of police (crime) Ramnath Pokale said, "Analysis of the CCTV footage has helped us establish the identity of two men involved in the six chain snatchings. The duo from Ambivli in Kalyan visit Pune and snatch chains of elderly women. They ride back to Kalyan after the incidents. We shall arrest them soon."
On Thursday's incident, Pokale said, "The police have identified the two men. The teams are working on certain clues."
