Nagpur University fails to print over 4 lakh marksheets since 2021 exams

NAGPUR: Nagpur University is celebrating its centenary year, but it has failed to print over four lakh marksheets from the last two years leaving students in the lurch. Most of the marksheets are of first and second semester students, who appeared in summer and winter examinations last year, while some are of those from final year who appeared in the summer of 2021.
To tide over the crisis, the NU administration had already directed colleges to accept online marksheets provided to students by logging in at the MKCL website. The move saved the institution from further embarrassment.
However, final year graduate and postgraduate students were in a quandary as they needed original marksheets for admissions to other universities, including abroad, or to apply for jobs. Many lost an academic year due to this inordinate delay.
On January 15, TOI had reported how the university failed to print marksheets of over two lakh students by quoting officials from the exam section. A student from Guru Nanak Institute of Technology (GNIT), who cleared his eighth semester in summer 2021, is yet to get his marksheet. He was made to run pillar to post by the exam section officials who gave the excuse of a faulty printer.
"My sixth semester marksheet was sent for reprinting as important details were missing. NU took a lot of time to get it printed. I'm still waiting for my final year marksheet after submitting all my previous ones. On Friday, NU officials told me that the printing work is over but they are waiting for the official stamp which would again take time," the aggrieved student told TOI.
Admitting to the delay, senior exam section officials attributed it to many factors, including change in the marksheet format. "We had placed an order to print over four lakh marksheets. It got delayed as the printer was not getting enough paper for printing. We handed over the marksheets to students from autonomous colleges. We are hoping for the crisis to end by next week so that we can start printing at the earliest," they told TOI.
According to the aggrieved students, those seeking scholarships or fellowships from various national and international organizations or to join defence courses need original marksheets.
"MKCL, ousted due its failure to declare results in time, was entrusted to provide marksheets online by the administration led by vice chancellor Subhash Chaudhari and pro-VC Sanjay Dudhe. Promarc, the earlier service provider, used to provide even printed marksheets which were more convenient and time saving" said NU officials.
