Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president K Surendran demanded the resignation of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan in view of the Lok Ayukta verdict.
“One of the two judges in the Lok Ayukta said that there was nepotism and corruption in the spending of CMDRF. If the CM has any morality, he should immediately step down,” he said.
“What technicality the other judge pointed out was not yet known. The CM refuses to step down by sticking to those technical grounds. Now there is hardly any chance for a verdict coming in favour of the CM who is facing investigation in many other cases. It would be better if Pinarayi Vijayan resigns from his post now,” he said.
Surendran demanded the CPM leadership to respond to the Lok Ayukta verdict. “CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury and state secretary M V Govindan who speak at length about democratic values should clarify their stand,” he said, adding he hoped the high court would find a solution to the public grouse against the inordinate delay in the case against CM. tnn
