Thane: Kalwa police investigating the racket of forging the Commencement Certificate (CC) and Occupation Certificate (OC) of illegal buildings in Kalwa are ‘unable’ to find the prime accused who actually made the fake permissions of the Thane Municipal Corporation.
The Kalwa police had earlier this month arrested four persons for allegedly making fake documents, based on which the illegal buildings were constructed in the Kalwa, Kharegaon area, and were selling it as legal flats.
The case was registered based on the complaint of an executive engineer of Thane Municipal Corporation of the town planning department. In his complaint, the engineer stated that a former corporator had given such a complaint and documents along with the names of the building alleging irregularities in Kalwa-Kharegaon area were given to the TMC which was verified by the civic officials.
When checked, the ‘TMC officials verified’ documents were found to have had CC, OC. and development agreement, purportedly issued by the TMC. However, during the probe by the civic officials it transpired that they were not issued by the TMC.
Senior inspector Kanahiya Thorat said, “The four accused have not revealed who had actually forged the documents or from where did they do it.”
The probe in the case thus seems to have hit a roadblock. It may be recalled that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Thane police has launched a similar probe in the forging of such documents in Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal corporation area and have arrested 10 developers and five accused for making fake documents. Whereas, the Kalwa police seems to be slow peddling in the case.
Sources informed that there is a huge chain of people and officials used by the developers of the illegal buildings. Using these forged documents, and by showing that they have got the relevant permissions for constructing buildings, they sell the flats to the gullible citizens at much lower rates. These illegal constructions are overlooked by the concerned authorities as they have their own interest in it, the source added.
