ACB traps ZP official for taking bribe

THANE: Thane unit of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Zilla Parishad's minor irrigation department officer allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant. The accused has been identified as Rajendra Patil. The police said that the accused had sought a bribe to issue a work order for a water conservation project in the complainant's gram panchayat.
The accused however sought a bribe of one percent of the total amount to issue the work order which was Rs 50,000. The aggrieved victim registered a complaint with the Thane unit of ACB who verified the complaint and laid a trap at the ZP office in Thane.
As the complainant pulled out a bundle of currency notes and the accused pocketed the amount, the ACB sleuths in waiting caught him red handed.
