Three held for murder of 22-year-old in Deoghar
Dumka: The Deoghar police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old youth identified as Raj Keshri of Jalsar under the Deoghar town police station on the night of March 29.
Those arrested are Monu Thathera and Ritesh Kumar, both acquaintances of the deceased and belonging to the same locality, and Nageshhwar Raut of the Jasidih police station area.
Talking to reporters on Friday, Deoghar SP Subhash Chandra Jat said Raj was called from his home by Monu and Ritesh over the phone at about 8.30 PM on the night of the murder. He said preliminary investigation suggested that the murder is linked to illegal trade of firearms.
He said, “The deceased was a DJ operator and also indulged in supplying illegal firearms. He had recently sold a country-made pistol to Monu for Rs 10,000 and took a part payment of Rs 5,000.” The officer further said that the trio indulged in a heated exchange of words over the issue of the Rs 5,000 to be paid to the deceased. “During the argument, Raj was fatally shot by the same firearm he had sold to Monu,” Jat said.
Jat added that the firearm used in the murder was recovered from the house of Nageshhwar Raut and a separate case against him was lodged with the local police station.
