RAJKOT: Two employees of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) have been booked in two separate rape cases at two separate police stations in Rajkot. In the first case, a complaint was lodged at Bhaktinagar police station against an assistant town planner. The complainant, a 33-year-old woman police constable, alleged she had come in contact with him during a demolition drive on Raiya Road in 2018.
Thereafter, they exchanged their numbers. When she fell ill in 2019, he took her to hospital and proposed to marry her. She alleged that he went to her house a day after her father’s death to offer condolenceand then and had physical relations with her .
Thereafter, he raped her multiple times under the pretext of marriage. In 2022, when she insisted on marriage, he told her that he would marry after taking the UPSC exam. She alleged that in December 2022, Makwana took her to his flat in Nageshwar area, thrashed and raped her. He called her to the RMC office on February 14 this year and told her that he will not marry her.
In the second case, a complaint of rape was registered against an employee of the estate department. In her complaint, a 37-year-old woman said she was widowed five years ago. He told her that he was divorced and would take care of her children and proposed to marry her. Later, she came to know that he was marrying someone else.
