Jaipur: Congress MP Deependra Singh Hooda on Thursday claimed that whenever the Opposition raises its voice against corruption under the NDA government at the Centre, the BJP targets them by using central probe agencies.
Hooda said, Congress’ fight was not against the termination of
Rahul Gandhi's membership from Lok Sabha but against corruption under Modi government at the Centre. He was addressing a press conference in Jaipur on Friday.
He alleged that the central government has been employing and misusing the central agencies or by influencing the institutions to muzzle the voice of the Opposition.
He targeted the BJP over embattled IPL founder Lalit Modi's threat to file a court case against the party's disqualified MP Rahul Gandhi in London.
He asked why is Modi, who is accused of running away from the country with crores, speaking in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
"The central government should tell whether Lalit Modi is its agent who is speaking in its favour like this?" Hooda asked.
He further questioned whether a man against whom serious allegations have been levelled will be heard now.
He said, the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi has brought all Opposition parties on same page on the formation of a joint parliamentary committee to inquire into the charges of
Adani group stock manipulation and LIC and SBI funding to Adani group.
Hooda said, the BJP targeted Rahul Gandhi as part of a well-planned strategy as he had asked two questions to the Modi government in Parliament over the Adani scam.
“Rahul Gandhi had asked that Adani’s shell companies have Rs 20,000 crore with them. Where did this money come from? The second question of Rahul Gandhi was about the relationship between Adani and Modi,” he said.
He said that only nine days after Rahul Gandhi's speech in Parliament on the Adani scam, the proceedings in the defamation case against him were restarted.
