LUDHIANA: Two days after the TOI highlighted the issue of school students and teenagers indulging in vaping or using e-cigarettes, Sarabha Nagar police conducted raids at two paan shops in Rajguru Nagar and South City road and seized 75 e-cigarettes, besides 4 hookahs, 1 cole box and 6 hookah pipes.
The police also arrested two accsued, identified as Ram Chaurasia of Haibowal and Hari Chand of Gobind Nagar, Ferozepur road. Police have lodged two separate FIRs against them.
Sub-inspector Amrinder Singh Sidhu, SHO, Sarabha Nagar police station, said police had conducted raids at two paan shops. The accused were serving hookahs and e-cigarettes to people, including minors. The SHO said two FIRs under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC, 6, 7, 20, 24 of Tobacco Act 2003, section 21-A of the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products Act 2018 sections, 7 and 8 of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarette Act 2019. tnn
