LUCKNOW: A 60-year-old allegedly shot himself after his son, 20, died of a cardiac arrest in Aliganj on Friday. The back-to-back deaths in the family shocked the relatives and neighbours.
Police said that Suraj Pratap Singh, a resident of Mohan Gopal Society, Aliganj Sitapur Road, Maushambagh, had retired as an engineer from the irrigation department.
"On Friday, his 20-year-old son, Krishna Kant Singh, suffered cardiac arrest and died. Thereafter, a shocked Suraj picked
up his licensed revolver, closed his bedroom and shot himself. The other members of the family rushed after hearing the gunshot," said Aliganj SHO Nagesh Upadhyay.
According to police, a relative told them that Krishna Kant had been suffering from a cervical problem for a long time and was unable to walk properly.
"Around 8.30 am, the kin spotted Krishan Kant unconscious in his bed, after which he was rushed to a private hospital. The doctors declared him 'brought dead' and claimed it to be a cardiac arrest," said the police.
